The Evening Standard Reports On EOC Surgeon Mr Field
Monday 16 May 2011

Mr Richard Field a surgeon at the EOC told the Evening Standard today of the "heartbreaking" scenes that he saw treating fighters injured in the Libyan civil war.

Richard Field has just returned home after two weeks treating rebels and soldiers loyal to Colonel Gaddafi evacuated to a Tunisian hospital close to the Libyan border.

Among his patients was an 18-year-old whose leg had been "blown off" by a high velocity bullet and another man with a shoulder shattered by a close range shot. Others had suffered bullets wounds to the feet and hands.
