After qualifying in 2006 I worked on a trauma and plastic surgery ward at Guys and St Thomas’ hospital. I wanted to learn more about acutely unwell patients so moved to Intensive Care at Kingston hospital where I was successful as Junior Sister. I really enjoyed the challenges of leadership so moved to Chelsea and Westminster hospital where I was a ward sister in trauma and orthopaedics. I wanted to follow my passion for driving forward quality; I became the Matron there in 2012.
Having been a patient as the Epsom Elective Orthopaedic Centre I was very impressed by the standard of care I received and knew I wanted to work here. I am now Head of Quality and Improvement here.
My role is to work closely with patients and relatives to provide honest and open feedback to comments and concerns raised and then support staff within the various teams to drive forward quality and maintain a high standard of care.
