Benefits of attending Open Days
At SWLEOC, we understand that coming into hospital for any type of surgery can be stressful. That is why it we feel it’s important and very beneficial that that our patients attend one of our Patients’ Open Days at SWLEOC.
The Open Days are held frequently. They are designed to help our prospective patients feel confident and informed about their operation and stay at SWLEOC. The days are hosted by leading clinical staff who will be able to answer questions and resolve concerns which patients or their relatives may have.
On the Open Days, visitors meet in our reception area where they are welcomed and then shown to SWLEOC meeting room, where they are offered refreshments and have an opportunity to meet others preparing for surgery and their relatives. They are then guided through a short presentation about SWLEOC and what happens throughout a patient’s stay with us. Then there is a question and answer session to address any concerns there might be.
The Open Day ends with a tour of SWLEOC (please don’t worry, you won’t see an operating theatre in action!). You will be able to see the Pre Theatre Department, PACU (Post Anaesthetic Care Unit), and of course the wards where you will begin your recovery.
We highly recommend the Open Day to any patient who is coming in to SWLEOC for the first time. Previous patients have commented that they found the time to be very informative and reassuring and it helped calm their anxiety because they knew what to expect.
The Open Days are very popular and we recommend booking early to avoid disappointment, please call 01372 735400 to book your place.
