Apprentice Theatre Support Worker
Make every day different, make a difference every day. Why not try a NHS Apprenticeship?
Apprenticeships offer structured training with an employer and lead to nationally-recognised qualifications.
(Fixed Term 15 months)
An exciting opportunity has arisen in our outstanding centre. You will be working with a caring, compassionate, supportive and developing team. We are looking for apprentice Healthcare Support Workers (HCSWs) in theatres, who are willing to undertake the 12-15 month training. The successful candidates will have good communication skills; a passion to work with people; demonstrate compassion within their everyday work; the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and the credentials to undertake and complete the apprenticeship training.
An apprentice doesn’t have to be a school leaver. In fact we value experience here at Epsom and St Helier NHS Trust.
This full-time (37.5 hours per week) apprenticeship is undertaken within a fifteen month fixed-term contract and provides an ideal opportunity to begin your healthcare career at Epsom and St Helier NHS Trust.
The apprenticeship is delivered in collaboration between the Trust and an education provider. On successful completion of coursework and practical assessments, you will receive a Level 2 qualification in Clinical Healthcare Support plus a level 1 qualification in maths and English if you do not already hold this.
On successful completion of the programme you can progress to a permanent band 2 Theatre Support Worker position within Epsom and St Helier NHS Trust. From here we offer supported on-going learning with an opportunity for career progression.
Theatre Healthcare Support Workers (HCSWs) work as part of a team providing high quality and compassionate care to individuals. They will carry out well-defined routine clinical duties for example:
• Providing support to the surgical team.
• Aiding the team in positioning individuals.
• Completing pre and post-operative checklists
