The Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation (OREF) Charity

The Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation (OREF) was established in 2004 to support research and education at the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre (SWLEOC).

Under the chairmanship of Baroness Margaret McDonagh, OREF’s a board of Trustees work with clinical and research staff to raise funds and support SWLEOC’s research and education initiatives.

OREF board of trustees includes: Baroness Margaret McDonagh, Professor Richard Field, Mr Michael Reed, Ms Mary Gatehouse, Mr David Seymour, Professor Deiary Kader, Mr Vipul Patel, Mr Philip Mitchell and Mrs Sarah Langfield. OREF team includes: Miss Irrum Afzal and Mrs Emily Tyrwhitt-Drake. 

OREF’s support has enabled SWLEOC to develop and maintain one of the world’s largest and most comprehensive outcome databases that has helped the centre to secure a reputation for high volume, high quality, clinical work with robust evidence of clinical outcomes and steady stream of peer reviewed clinical publications.

Every year the OREF Charity host a fundraising event, this alternates between a walk around the local park or a tennis event. Historically, the charity walks have taken place at Nonsuch Park in Cheam and Bourne Hall.

The tennis event takes place at local tennis clubs with Andrew Castle, former British tennis player, hosting the event.
